Welcome to the Pound Buddies Hair of the Dog 3 X 5K Relay Run. This USA Track & Field sanctioned event is a fundraising effort to support the mission of Pound Buddies Animal Shelter & Adoption Center located in Muskegon, Michigan. As its name implies, this is a relay team event where each team member will run a 5K for a total of 15K, or 9.3 miles. Mark your calendars and join us at Bear Lake Park in North Muskegon on Saturday, October 30, 2021 for this family friendly, healthy lifestyle event. The event will start and finish on the field at Bear Lake Park. The run will kick off at 8:30AM with the first relay team member beginning the first leg of the event. Running counter clockwise around Bear Lake, most of the course will be on bike paths. A detailed map is displayed on the “Course Map” page. Each team member will run a 5K and when they reach the exchange zone, will hand off the team baton (with timing chip attached) to the next team member to continue with that member’s 5K. There will be an aid station with Gatorade and water at the halfway point between exchange zones. Teams will be allowed to have bicycles at the exchange zones in order to return to the park. Each team will have bib numbers for each individual team member so you don’t have to pass along race bibs. Courses will have signage and volunteers to ensure participant safety and course direction. The course is quite flat with only a couple (not extreme) “rolling hills”.

As we mentioned, this event is a fundraising effort to support the mission of Pound Buddies. Like you, we truly love and value our fur babies and consider them as family. In order to comply with City guidelines, we need your help in keeping all of our fur babies at home. Our pets (aka: family members) are NOT allowed to join you on the run.
